Phoenix Racing Team secures the title in the SP9 Pro-Am GT3 category.
The VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring is one of the most popular amateur-racing series in Europe and RAVENOL, technology partner of several teams, supplies the optimal lubricants as well as cooling, brake and hydraulic fluids, cleaners and car-care products for cars such as the Porsche Cayman GT4 CS, Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR or Audis.
In the ninth round of the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring, Team Phoenix based in Meuspath clinched the title in the SP9 Pro-Am category with Luxemburg’s Steve Jans (31) at the wheel. Since the beginning of this year, the Nürburgring specialist with extensive experience in GT and endurance racing under his belt has been racing for the RAVENOL partner team. He switched to the team’s Audi R8 LMS GT3 (2019) after having contested a large number of races in the Endurance Championship Nürburgring for Porsche and Mercedes.
The latest edition of the R8 is based on the production version Audi R8 Coupé. Both the production and racing versions of the chassis are produced by Audi Sport GmbH in the same production plant, with the 5.2-litre engine producing 500Nm also being built on the same line as the production power unit. With its massive 585bhp, the engine is bursting with power, with its four valves per cylinder perfectly lubricated by RAVENOL RSS SAE 10W-60 engine oil, especially developed for high-performance motor racing. When it comes to the transmission, the car’s sequential, pneumatically activated six-speed sports gearbox with paddles at the steering wheel is efficiently lubricated by the fully synthetic PAO based low-friction RAVENOL Racing Gearoil which provides a high-pressure resistant lubrication film. To ensure maximum brake performance, the hydraulic dual-circuit brake system is filled prior to every race with a fresh dose of RAVENOL Racing Brake Fluid R325+, providing the perfect solution, particularly when temperatures are extremely high or races are held in tropical conditions.
