20 cars - 22 international races - this weekend Formula 1 should start into the new season in Melbourne (Australia). But for safety reasons the FIA decided to postpone the start.
In Melbourne was a emergency meeting between the team bosses, organisers and representatives of F1 and FIA. They agreed to cancel the event completely.
The risk that other team members, Grand Prix helpers or fans could be infected during the race weekend was too high. In agreement with the local authorities, the responsible persons of Formula 1, the FIA and the local promoter were left with no alternative to the final cancellation of the Australian GP.
